Lance Stroll has voiced his continued belief in Aston Martin’s project despite the team’s struggles, expressing frustration with current Formula 1 regulations while reaffirming his commitment to the sport.

The Canadian driver, 27, is among those pushing for significant changes to F1’s rulebook as he arrived in Miami for the Grand Prix. During the recent break, Stroll tested cars from other championships and found them far more enjoyable than current F1 machinery.

“It’s 1,000 times more fun (driving an F3 car) because you can do whatever you want with your right foot. Even the weight difference—around 600 kilos—makes a huge difference,” he said.

Stroll criticized the current regulations, stating, “I hope they improve things, because these rules are ruining both the races and qualifying laps. I hope driving becomes more natural, without overthinking battery management and lift-and-coast. Honestly, we’re far from what an F1 car should be—pushing flat out without worrying about energy.”

“We saw it coming. Everyone said over the last year and a half that adding more batteries and reducing downforce wouldn’t end well. We got exactly what we expected. It’s probably more frustrating for Aston Martin than for Mercedes right now,” he added.

Despite the difficulties, Stroll made it clear he has no plans to leave F1, unlike Max Verstappen who has hinted at an early exit. “I still believe in this project (Aston Martin). We’re far from our true potential. Adrian (Newey) joined the team, we have a new factory, a wind tunnel—everyone knows about it. If two or three years from now I’m sitting on the sofa watching two Aston Martins lead the pack and I’m not there, it will bother me. I want to be part of that success, and I hope when it happens, the cars will be more fun to drive,” he concluded.
