The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) announced on May 7 the results of the election for the new Athletes’ Commission, with Chinese Olympic champion Liu Shiwen among the 10 elected members.
According to the ITTF, the election concluded on May 4, with over 300 participants voting for the able-bodied athlete representatives. To ensure balanced representation across continents and genders, eight able-bodied athletes were selected for the new commission. In addition to the two current chairs, Liu Shiwen and India’s Achanta Sharath Kamal, the commission includes representatives from Wales, Ghana, England, Algeria, Ecuador, and Romania.
The commission also features two para-athletes from England and the United States.
A new chairperson of the Athletes’ Commission will be elected in the coming period.
