Russian tennis stars Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, and Karen Khachanov have made history by advancing to the quarterfinals of the same Masters 1000 event for the first time in their careers. The milestone was achieved at the ongoing clay-court Masters tournament in Rome, Italy.
The upcoming quarterfinal matchups featuring the Russian players are as follows:
– Andrey Rublev (Russia, 12) vs. Jannik Sinner (Italy, 1)
– Karen Khachanov (Russia, 13) vs. Casper Ruud (Norway, 23)
– Daniil Medvedev (Russia, 7) vs. Martin Landaluce (Spain, LL)
Remarkably, this is not only the first time Medvedev, Khachanov, and Rublev have all reached the quarterfinals of a single Masters event together, but also the first time they have done so at any Grand Slam tournament. This is particularly surprising given their consistent high-level performances on the ATP Tour.
Furthermore, Medvedev, Rublev, and Khachanov are the only players from the top 16 of the world rankings—alongside Jannik Sinner—still competing in Rome.
